How to dress your kid like a Punk Rocker

Author: Rolf Bax
Published in: 26 Sep 2019

Let’s be honest, what can be more fun than dressing your child up like a punk Rocker? Rebellious, out-of-control, head bobbing to their cute air guitar – styling your kid like an ultimate Rockstar can be a ton of fun! Whether it’s flashy or intensely dark, we give you the insider scoop on how to make your child look like a true Punk Rockstar.

1. Go all black or super flashy

There tons of ways to achieve a punk Rockstar look. The easiest way is to choose your favorite band tee and couple it with a jean or leather-looking fabric. But if you’re feeling a little bold, then go wild and add those flashy colors! Some of the greatest rockstars like David Bowie, Prince and Jimi Hendrix, use flamboyant colors and outrageous rock-god pieces. Each Rockstar has a signature of their own. So feel free to mess around! You don’t necessarily have to stick to the darker spectrum. Whatever you choose, go all in!

2. Keep it comfortable!

To create a punk Rockstar style, it’s all about choosing clothes that you’re kid feels most comfortable in. If your kid feels comfy, he/she will feel more confident to run, play and jump around, just like a true Rockstar would. Don’t worry if it’s wrinkled scruffy old or torn. It will just add to their rock punk vibe!

3. Rock a free-style hairdo

This is the best bit. You don’t have to anything! The ‘I just rolled-out of bed look and wear whatever ’ is totally on point for a Rockstar. If you do want to do something special, you can always create a green mohawk or temporary color one lock of hair in a vibrant color such as hot pink. Do make sure that the color is is kid-friendly and temporary, showing up with a green lock of hair to grandpa’s birthday may not go over well.

4. DIY the look

Need to make your kid look a little edgier? Try to DIY your kid’s look by using some colored markers and scissors. Just rib the jean a little here and there, add some cool phrase on your tee and voila! Your child will look like a little rebel.

5. Add any accessories

Mix it up! Accessories can be anything. Think of sunglasses, beanies, bandana’s, leather gloves, hoodies, daddies old tie, wearing a cap backward or even a tutu with combat boots. Basically, anything with a skull or a cross really brings out your child’s inner badass. If you think it won’t match, BINGO! You’ve nailed it! Outrageous rock-god pieces don’t need to match, they’ll tie the outfit together no matter what. By contrasting different styles, patterns and colors, you’ll create that ‘I just threw on whatever’ look.

6. Ooze confidence

If you truly want your child to look like a rock and roller they’ve got to not only dress the part but also act the part. Whatever barriers you think existed, forget them! Even Sir Elton John wore a duck suit. It really is all about confidence. Even if a leather jacket won’t fit or is a few sizes too big, tell your kid he just happens to be the flyest thing ever. If confidence isn’t oozing from your kid, give them a pair of cool sunglasses. Bet he/she’ll feel like a true rock star within minutes.

7. Turn up the music!

Okay, I know you want to get started, but don’t forget to turn up the music! Play your favorite rock ‘n roll tunes, so you’ll be inspired to absolutely smash the new Rockstar look!
